RULES
Participation, Reporting & Performance Calculation
How TGIMC participants register, report performance, and have percentage returns calculated from verified brokerage accounts.
Championship Structure
The Great Indian Market Championship (TGIMC) is designed to identify and recognise exceptional trading performance through real-money, verifiable trading accounts.
Participants compete using their own trading strategies while TGIMC measures and ranks performance according to a standardised methodology.
The minimum starting capital required to participate is ₹5,00,000.
Participants may trade through eligible brokerage accounts that can provide sufficient statements, transaction records and account-value information for TGIMC to independently verify performance.
Participating in TGIMC
To participate, you must:
- Register for the Championship and pay the applicable entry fee.
- Nominate the brokerage account(s) that will be used for the competition.
- Maintain the required minimum eligible capital of ₹5 lakh.
- Provide the required brokerage statements and verification documents.
- Comply with the trading, reporting and verification rules of TGIMC.
Multiple brokerage accounts may be combined where permitted by TGIMC to meet the minimum capital requirement, provided all nominated accounts are declared and verified at the beginning of participation.
Once an account has been registered for the Championship, additional accounts cannot be included in the participant's performance calculation unless specifically approved by TGIMC.
Who Can Participate?
TGIMC is open to eligible traders subject to applicable laws, regulations, brokerage requirements and the official Championship rules.
Participants are responsible for ensuring that their trading activity and participation comply with the laws and regulations applicable to them.
Late Entries
Participants may be permitted to enter TGIMC after the Championship has begun.
A late entrant's performance begins from their verified account value at the time their participation officially starts.
For example:
TGIMC may require a brokerage statement, account-value report, screenshot or other verification to establish the starting value.
Reporting Your Performance
TGIMC may publish participant standings periodically throughout the Championship.
To remain eligible for published rankings, participants may be required to submit:
- Name as it should appear on the leaderboard
- Registered TGIMC category/division
- Starting date
- Starting account value
- Current account value
- Percentage return since the official starting date
- Brokerage statements covering the relevant period
- Details of deposits or withdrawals
- Any additional information required for verification
Once a brokerage statement for a particular period has been successfully submitted and verified, participants will generally not be required to submit the same statement again.
TGIMC may independently verify any reported performance before publishing or certifying it.
Determining Your Percentage Return
TGIMC's objective is to measure actual trading performance, rather than changes in account value caused by deposits or withdrawals.
Broker-Calculated Time-Weighted Returns
Where your broker provides a reliable Time-Weighted Rate of Return (TWRR) or another TGIMC-approved performance report, this may be used for calculating Championship performance.
Participants will be required to provide the relevant brokerage statement together with the performance report.
For late entrants, the report should cover the period beginning from the participant's official TGIMC start date.
Deposits and Withdrawals
Adding money to your account does not constitute a trading profit.
Similarly, withdrawing money from your account does not constitute a trading loss.
TGIMC will therefore adjust performance calculations for external cash flows.
Participants must disclose:
- Amount deposited or withdrawn
- Date of the transaction
- Account value around the time of the transaction, where requested
TGIMC may request additional broker-generated reports or screenshots where substantial capital movements occur.
Example: Capital Added
Suppose you begin TGIMC with:
Example: Capital Withdrawn
Suppose you begin with ₹10,00,000. You subsequently withdraw ₹2,00,000, and your account ends at ₹14,00,000.
Large Capital Additions or Withdrawals
Large capital movements can materially affect percentage-return calculations.
Where substantial capital is added or removed, TGIMC may require:
- Date of the capital movement
- Exact amount added or withdrawn
- Brokerage statement
- Account value immediately before or after the transaction
- Broker-generated performance report, where available
TGIMC may use time-weighted or compounded calculations to ensure participants are compared fairly.
Verification of Performance
TGIMC is built around one principle: performance must be verifiable.
TGIMC may request brokerage statements, contract notes, ledger statements, P&L reports, trade books, account-value reports or other supporting documents necessary to verify a participant's performance.
TGIMC may also independently contact or use approved mechanisms with brokers, technology providers or verification partners where the participant has provided the necessary authorisation.
Submission of incomplete, altered, misleading or fraudulent information may result in immediate disqualification.
Trading Activity
Participants may use their own trading methodology subject to the rules of their registered TGIMC category.
Permitted instruments, leverage, derivatives, short selling, algorithmic trading and other trading methods may differ between Championship categories.
Participants are responsible for ensuring that their trading activity is permitted by their broker and applicable regulations.
Trades must represent genuine market transactions conducted through the participant's registered brokerage account(s).
Exceptional or Unverifiable Trading Activity
TGIMC reserves the right to request additional information where trading activity is unusually complex, extremely high-frequency, difficult to verify, or otherwise inconsistent with the intended structure of the Championship.
Trading activity that cannot reasonably be independently verified may be excluded from the Championship.
TGIMC may also reject or disqualify accounts where the nature or volume of transactions makes reliable performance verification impractical.
Integrity of the Championship
TGIMC reserves the right to amend, interpret or supplement its rules where reasonably necessary to:
- Protect the integrity of the Championship
- Ensure fair comparison between participants
- Prevent manipulation
- Address circumstances not contemplated by the existing rules
- Comply with applicable laws or regulatory requirements
- Improve the accuracy of performance measurement
Any material changes affecting participants will be communicated through official TGIMC channels.
TGIMC may investigate any account or participant where there is reasonable doubt regarding reported performance, account ownership, trading activity or compliance with Championship rules.
The decision of TGIMC regarding rankings, verification and eligibility will be final, subject to the terms and applicable law governing the Championship.
One Account. Real Capital. Real Performance.
TGIMC is not a simulation or a paper-trading competition.
It is designed to answer a simple question: who can actually perform when real capital is at stake?
Every participant starts from a verified base. Every return is measured. Every top performance must be proven.
The Great Indian Market Championship. Some trades deserve to be measured.
